History

During the 1990's, there was a large increase in accidental needle sticks. In 1997, an estimate of 800,000 was reported. Thus, Sharps MD was founded by a group of doctors, nurses and various consultants with over 70 years combined experience.
Our objective was to find alternatives to protect people and create a safe environment by eliminating accidental needle sticks and reduce the risk of bloodborne pathogens while also promoting a green friendly way to decrease landfill volume and high insurance costs.

Sharps MD personnel have developed a medical waste disposal and management program with the objective to Go Green and Save Green. With the Florida Department of Health and the Environmental Protection Agency increasing their standards for health and environmental compliance healthcare facilities need to make sure taht their regulatory procedures are in compliance.
Our medical waste disposal and management program is a complete solutions offering pickup, removal, transport, and disposal for a low monthly fee. Sharps MD partners with licensed treatment facilities and suppliers throughout Florida.

Sharps MD Code of Ethics

Article I. Sharps MD Ethics

Act with integrity, copetence, diligence, respect, and in an ethical manner with the publics, customers, generators, clinics, prospective customers, generators, clinics, employers, employees, and colleagues in the biomedical waste removal, transport, and disposal profession. Places integrity of the biomedical waste removal, transport, and disposal profession and our customers above their own personal interests.

Article II. Sharps MD Professionalism

Use reasonable care and exercise independent professional judgment when conducting biomedical waste removal, transport, and disposal analysis, making biomedical waste removal, transport, and disposal recommendations, taking biomedical waste removal, transport, and disposal actions, legal and lawful activities. Practice and encourage others to practice in a professional and ethical manner that will reflect credit on themselves and the profession.

Article III. Biomedical Waste Laws and Regulations

Abide by and follow all the rules, regulations, requirements, laws, and bylaws governing industry in Florida, including all Florida Department of Health, OSHA, DOT, NIOSH, EPA, and FDEP.

Article IV. Professionalism

The customer will always be greeted with a smile, and treated with the utmost respect & courteous professionalism at all times.

Article V. Delivery

Customer is guaranteed on time pickup and delivery service as stated on schedule without delay (excluding any and all arising acts of God and or unforseen government imposed regulations)

Article VI. Cancellation

Customer may cancel the renewal of an existing agreement at any time for any reason with a 60-day advance written notification

Article VII. Notice

Customer will always be informed of any and all new or amended laws that may directly or indirectly affect them, Sharps MD, and/or the procedures of the service.

Article VIII. Contract Changes

Customer may change or alter schedule at no charge with a 48 hour prior advance notice in writing to Sharps MD.

Article IX. Customer Specials

Enrolled customers will be entitled to any and all product specials and services offered and included with Sharps MD biomedical waste removal, transport, disposal, and service contract.

Article X. Partnership Specials

Customer will automatically be a member of the Sharps MD "Go Green Save Green" partnership program, which entitles you to special pricing on products and services that are only available to Sharps MD Green partners.

Article XI. Confidentiality

Transactions and information between Sharps MD and customer will be kept completely confidential, and will not be divulged to any persons for any reason. View our complete Privacy Policy.

Article XII. Documentation

Customer will always be issued all documentation at time of pickup which includes the FDOH mandated biogenerator waste disposal report form.
